| New Trends | page 1 page 2 | | | | 2008 Digital Future Report The Center for the Digital Future at the USC Annenberg School is pleased to present the results of the seventh year of our project, "Surveying the Digital Future." The seven years of longitudinal research comprise an absolutely unique data base that completely captures broadband at home, the wireless Internet, on-line media, user-generated content and, now, social networking. This year's report contains a large module looking at on-line communities and social networking in great detail. Readers can compare the social networking data and correlate it to seven years of attitudes and behaviors on-line. As usual, the report continues to track off-line media use, purchasing both off-line and through e-commerce, social and political activity and a wealth of other data. | Idea Earth Launches Site for Easy Mobile Access to FBI Most Wanted Idea Earth, a company specializing in mobile web site development, today announced that users can now access important FBI Most Wanted content at fbimostwanted.mobi on the mobile web. | EcoMoto is a digest of Environmental Trends, Green Innovation, Electric Cars and Hybrid Cars. Mosca "Home technologies are without a doubt helping to counteract the slumping housing market," said CEA Director of Research Joe Bates. "Consumers are increasingly asking for installed technologies, whether it's for a home theater room or an intricate home network complete with servers and structured wiring. Clearly, builders, contractors and consumers believe that these offerings are no longer just 'the wave of the future' but a reality; a reality from which builders and contractors are reaping the benefits." As consumers demand more space for home offices and home theaters, builders and contractors are turning to custom technology installers more often. In fact, the CEA found that the increased popularity of installed home technology has resulted in more than 60 percent of builders and contractors employing custom technology installers in 2006. | | | Tweens are the new Teens - 29 Jul 2007, - PALLAVI PASRICHA & NIKHILA PANT ,TNN They are the target audience of advertisers, they ensure that MNCs make crores of rupees in revenue and can give any agony aunt a run for her column space thanks to their in-depth knowledge of relationships. It’s a basic tenet of marketing. But until now, it’s been impossible to understand influence -- and who wields it -- within specific conversations taking place in social media. BuzzLogic changes this dynamic by uniquely defining and measuring influence in social media, and by surfacing the key influencers who are shaping and defining markets, issues and reputations. Through the lens of influence, BuzzLogic provides a means for marketing and communications practitioners to engage with social media in order to manage their brands, reputations, products and customer relationships. As a result, the confusion that has characterized social media is replaced by clarity – marketers can make sense of the conversations they care about. And they can do something about them. |

A lot of people just use Twitter through the website, but SMS is where it's more interesting, because you're out and about during the day and reporting those things. Twitter is like IM or direct SMS, but the key difference is that replies are not expected. This allows for a different type of sharing. It gives you more freedom. Because replies aren't expected, you can write things that can be ignored, which allows you to write things that aren't necessarily important but could be interesting or fun. It's a new form of communication that's about ambient awareness and instant insight into people's lives. When you get a Twitter update from a friend, you can picture what they're doing when they report it. | New internet service delivers holy land blessings A service recently launched by Modefine Ltd., a Cyprus company, enables worshippers to log on and watch as a priest utters a prayer for them. ''This takes things to a new level,'' said James Martin, a Jesuit priest and associate editor of the Roman Catholic magazine America, who has watched religious trends develop on the Internet. Martin said in a telephone interview that the technology also gives believers a new way to carry out an old practice: asking others to pray for them in sacred places. ''Going to Israel is quite expensive,'' said Martin. ''So for people who can't afford it but can afford their monthly (Internet) bill, this is one way to do it.'' Since opening on May 1, the site has fielded hundreds of requests, some 70 percent from Americans but also from Hong Kong, India, Mexico and Australia, said Said Salem, Modefine's Holy Land representative. | | | | | | | |
